Jack Grealish has signed a new long-term contract with Aston Villa, the Premier League side announced has announced.

The deal is set to keep the club captain at Villa Park until 2025.

Grealish, who earned his first senior England call-up this month for the side’s Nations League clashes with Iceland and Denmark, was a transfer target of Manchester United’s earlier in the summer window.

However, United prioritised a move for fellow England international and Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, whom they have still not signed.

Grealish was crucial in helping Villa to avoid relegation from the top flight last season, with the club staying up thanks to a final-day draw at West Ham.

The 25-year-old came through Villa’s academy and has spent his entire senior career at the club, with the exception of a loan spell with Notts County in 2013/14.

Grealish has made 159 competitive appearances for Villa since his debut in 2012, scoring 23 goals.
