Jack Grealish has been given the thumbs up to impress in Project Restart by former Premier League title winner Gareth Barry.
Ex-Manchester City ace Barry was back at Villa Park on Saturday for a friendly between West Brom and Villa.
The game finished 2-2 with Grealish and Keinan Davis netting for the hosts and Kamil Grosicki and Filip Krovinovic on target for the visitors.
Mirror Sport understands ex-Villa skipper and England ace Barry,39, complimented Grealish afterwards telling him he was “class” and that he scored a great goal.
Grealish, 24, is due to be in action again at Villa Park on June 17 in his side's first game back against Sheffield United after the coronavirus shutdown.
The star needs to be on top form to give Villa real hope of climbing the table from 19th.
Grealish has seven goals and six assists this season in the top-flight making him a £70million target for Manchester United.
The Old Trafford club are set to make a strong move for Grealish irrespective of whether the Midlands club go down or stay up.
Grealish is likely to be the latest Villa star to leave the club in a big-money move following in the footsteps of Ashley Young, James Milner, Stewart Downing and Barry himself.
Barry quit for City in 2009 where he later won the FA Cup and League and helped amass 53 caps.
Barry is out of contract at West Brom this summer and looking to help the Championship club to promotion.
