Jack Grealish sends warning for when Gareth Southgate takes handbrake off "scary" attack

Jack Grealish reckons England's flair players are so good, it is “scary”.

Gareth Southgate has yet to truly take off the handbrake during the progression to the quarter-finals of Euro 2020 but when he does, Grealish thinks it will be a frightening prospect.

He declared: “You have got six players that play either side of Harry (Kane) that, in reality, could play for most clubs in the world. Myself, Jadon (Sancho), Marcus (Rashford), Raheem (Sterling), Phil Foden and Bukayo (Saka).

“That’s scary how good us six are. That’s not being big-headed or nothing. That is just the truth.”

Grealish is by no means a certain starter against Ukraine in Rome on Saturday and understands Southgate’s section dilemma, explaining: “I’ve got to be realistic.

"I’ve just got to go and train as well as possible every single day and try to impress the manager as much as possible because at the end of the day, there is only one person you have got to trust.”

England are hot favourites to get past Ukraine but Grealish believes upsets such as the one Switzerland created against France will inspire Andriy Shevchenko’s side.

He went on: “I think there's been so many games that you wouldn't expect that have gone different ways this Euros so far.

“And so honestly, I think people would probably want to beat us because of who we are as well.”

While Grealish does not know if he will be in Southgate’s starting line-up, Harry Kane is a certainty.

And Grealish reckons those who doubted Kane were foolish, saying: “To get his first goal of the tournament, he will be buzzing but no-one in there would ever doubt H.

“He is the best player I have ever played with. He is unbelievable. He is an unbelievable professional on and off the pitch.

“I am buzzing for him that he has obviously got the first goal and hopefully for all of us there are many more to come.”
