Jack Grealish sends message to Man City fans after making debut

Jack Grealish is already looking forward to getting more minutes for Manchester City after making his debut for the club in the Community Shield.

Grealish, who signed for £100m this week, came off the bench at Wembley against Leicester for his City debut to cap a whirlwind week that saw him become English football's most expensive ever player.

The former Aston Villa captain was lively in his 25-minute cameo, with Leicester paying close attention to him whenever he got on the ball.

His debut didn't end as he hoped, however, as Leicester scored a late penalty to take the win and ensure Grealish didn't begin his City career with a trophy.

However, Grealish took to social media after the game to describe the honour of making his City debut as he praised the Blues faithful for their rousing reception when he was introduced.

He wrote: "A disappointing result today but an absolute honour to make my debut for this club and thank you to the fans for the lovely reception!"

Now looking ahead to the Premier League opener with Tottenham on Sunday, Grealish added that he's looking forward to his next run-out with his new teammates as he said: "Can’t wait for next weekend!"

The post had the support of Grealish's new teammates including Tommy Doyle, Zack Steffen and Yan Couto, plus England teammate Keiran Trippier.
