Jack Grealish's agent insists Man Utd are 'not top of the list' for summer transfer

Jack Grealish's agent has poured cold water on claims the Aston Villa captain could join Manchester United this summer.

Grealish, 25, has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford over the last two years.

The England international was enjoying another sensational season - with six goals and 12 assists in the Premier League - before he suffered a major shin injury in February.

Grealish is now back out on the grass and may return to action just in time to remind his suitors of his quality.

But while the Red Devils may have thought they were at the front of the pack pushing for Grealish's signature, agent Jonathan Barnett has dealt them a nasty surprise.

"The truth is we don't know [what will happen]," Barnett - who also represents the likes of Gareth Bale - told SNTV . "There are many clubs [interested] and I wouldn't put Manchester United at the top of that [list].

"But he could stay. He could stay as well so it's a conversation the club, Aston Villa, will have with Jack and ourselves then we'll see where we go."

Should Grealish leave Villa this summer? Have your say in the comments.

Barnett has not shied away from discussing Grealish's future in recent weeks and told Sky Sports earlier this month: "He loves Villa, but I think we just have to wait to see how things pan out.

"At the moment he is a Villa player and he has had no thoughts about anything else. We have to do what is best for Jack and for everybody else.

"I think he is a very special player. I think he maybe should have been playing for England a little earlier.

"It is unfortunate that he has got this injury at the moment but that will be fine. He has got a great mentality.

"On the field, he knows exactly what he wants to do, how to do it. I think he could be a big star in the summer. Only hope that he is given a chance and that will be great."
