Jack Grealish makes Premier League claim about Manchester United target Declan Rice

Manchester City's Jack Grealish has made a huge claim about Manchester United transfer target Declan Rice in a recent video on the England YouTube channel, as both players revealed their FIFA 22 player ratings.

In a video posted on the official England YouTube channel, Grealish and Rice look back at their previous FIFA player cards before revealing their FIFA 22 player ratings to viewers.

Grealish and Rice both featured for England during the Euro 2020 finals over the summer, as the latter proved to be a pivotal player as the Three Lions finished as runners-up, losing the final on penalties to Italy.

The pair linked up once more to feature in a FIFA 22 ratings reveal on the England YouTube channel, and it was clear to see that City's Grealish was full of praise for Rice in the video, with Grealish stating Rice should be a much higher rating than he was given.

The City midfielder also made a huge claim about Rice, saying that he believes Rice is one of the best holding midfielders in the Premier League.

"Do you know what's mad though, I think Dec (Rice) is one of the best holding midfielders in the league, and there's going to be some holding midfielders in the league that are rated way higher than him,” said Grealish.

As Rice revealed his FIFA 22 rating, with the West Ham midfielder saying, "I'll take that, I'm happy with that you know," Grealish was quick to argue that the 22-year-old should be higher rated.

"You should be higher than that, come on, you should be," Grealish claimed.

"What's mad is your pace mate, I'm 14 more pace than you!

"I think you've got nice passing...your passing should definitely be higher, look at mine at 83 and yours is 71, that's just too much of a gap in my opinion," Grealish continued.

"It's just a game though, that's FIFA for you," Rice replied.

"Nah, being serious, I'm happy with that, I'm buzzing."

Manchester Evening News understands that Rice has been earmarked as United's principal midfield target next summer and figures have already discussed the potential framework for a deal to sign him.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did want a new midfielder in the recently closed summer window, but accepted there was a high possibility the club would not sign one after United had prioritised a right-winger and a centre-back, with Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane both joining the club.

Rice expressed interest in United when he discussed the possibility of playing for the club with United defenders Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw while on international duty with England back in March.

In April, the United football director John Murtough and technical director Darren Fletcher effectively confirmed Rice's curiosity on the fans' forum, when they 'noted that they had heard that from players going away with England [and] other national teams that people have started to ask questions about Manchester United again.'

United believe the influence of their England contingent puts them at an advantage over potential Premier League competitors.

FIFA 22 will be available to play in just a couple of weeks, with the game's official release date being Friday, October 1, 2021. However, players who have pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition of the game can start playing from Monday, September 27, 2021.
