Jack Grealish makes Jordan Henderson laugh with Champions League joke in front of Phil Foden

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson laughed as Jack Grealish appeared to gently rib Manchester City starlet Phil Foden for his Champions League final defeat with Manchester City last month.

The two Premier League skippers joked about 'changing up' the attire - typically from tracksuits to suits - for a final as the England stars met ahead of the squad picture at St George's Park.

Foden was on the wrong end of a 1-0 score-line in the Champions League showpiece last month as Kai Havertz scored the winner for Chelsea to deny Manchester City a maiden tournament title.

Grealish said to the 30-year-old: "You know when you won the Champions League, did you wear a suit for the final? Or just the same (tracksuit)?"

"Same, trackie (tracksuit)," Henderson replied.

The 25-year-old added: "It's annoying that when they try and change it up for a final and you get beat, people trying to blame what you wore," to which Henderson burst out laughing.

Foden can be pictured awkwardly listening to the duo as he sits waiting for the England squad photograph to be taken.

It is unclear whether Grealish was directly aiming the joke at Foden with Henderson also suffering Champions League final heartbreak with Liverpool against Real Madrid in 2018.

But the 30-year-old channelled his disappointment to lift the Champions League, Super Cup, Club World Cup and Premier League in the ensuing 18-month period.

Grealish's admiration of the Henderson is no secret.

The Villa man spoke of his awe of Steven Gerrard's successor as Liverpool captain as the two joined the England Euro 2020 squad.

“You come here and you see the likes of Jordan Henderson and Harry Kane, and what they do off the field," he said.

“Obviously, what they do on it, we can all see that. But what they do on the training pitch, around the place and how they look after themselves.

“You sit there and think ‘it’s no wonder why they have the careers that they have had’. I think that’s one of the main things that has made me mature as a player, as a person and as a captain.”
