Jack Grealish has revealed how John Terry helped calmed down Tyrone Mings and Anwar El Ghazi's on-field row.
Mings and El Ghazi had to be separated by their Aston Villa teammates during the Villans' goalless draw with West Ham on Monday night.
The pair appeared to disagree over El Ghazi not tracking back in the first half, to which the Dutchman responded with a headbutt motion.
Mings then pointed his finger in the face of El Ghazi, and appeared to shout: "Shut up."
Villa midfielder Marvelous Nakamba and defender Bjorn Engels then got between their teammates to separate them and attempt to de-fuse the situation.
Apparently the argument didn't simmer down when the duo returned to the dressing room at half time - at which point Chelsea legend Terry stepped in.
“It happens sometimes in games" Grealish told the Sun. "Emotions are running high. It probably wasn’t what we wanted.
“We came in at half-time and we all spoke. Even JT had a little word and just said, ‘Look, nothing’s personal’.
“Then I said, ‘You two can shout at each other now but before we go out there in the second half, you two are shaking hands and we’re going out together’.
“The manager spoke about the first half, then everything calmed down. Before they went out for the second half, they shook hands.
“I think that’s why the manager probably give me the captain’s role, because I’m not afraid to say stuff.
“I’m not the oldest but because I’ve been at Villa my whole life and have the captain’s armband now, a few of the lads do tend to listen.”
