Jack Grealish is showing Man City why he's more than just a Plan B to Harry Kane

When Harry Kane said Kevin De Bruyne was the one player he would love to play with most, it was taken as a strong hint that he wanted to join Manchester City.

So when Jack Grealish calls Kane the best player he's ever played with, how long until the dots are connected to suggest he wants to play with Kane (and De Bruyne) at City?

Both England stars are wanted by City, but neither will come cheap. Signing one, rather than both, might be a best case scenario this summer.

However, Grealish isn't just doing his talking on the pitch during Euro 2020 as City weigh up the pros and cons of their summer transfer targets.

First, Grealish gave an interesting tactical answer when asked if Kane's goal 'drought' was putting pressure on England's other forwards. The Villa captain pointed towards the work Kane does off the ball for the team and the space he creates for others, alerting City to his tactical awareness needed to develop under Guardiola if he moved clubs this summer.

Now, after Grealish set up Kane for his breakthrough Euro 2020 goal, the charismatic no.7 has once again leapt to the defence of Kane.

"It is obviously good to get your first goal at a tournament, especially when all you lot would not shut up about it," Grealish said.

"It is obviously good. To get his first one, he will be buzzing but no one in there would ever doubt H."

Grealish is clearly loving every second of his first major tournament, and you sense he'd relish the chance to continue his link-up with Kane.

"He is the best player I have ever played with," continued Grealish, sending another message to City that he's fully aware of what Kane needs to flourish.

"He is unbelievable. He is an unbelievable professional on and off the pitch. When you see him around the place, this is why he is England captain. The thing that sticks out is that he is not just a goalscorer.

"There are players from the past who just scored goals, goals, goals. In my opinion he will break the Premier League one and the England one but he is not just a goalscorer. He is unbelievable.

"Like when he drops deep and finds passes and puts it through people's legs. He is obviously unbelievable and I am buzzing for him that he has obviously got the first goal and hopefully for all of us there are many more to come."

If Grealish is impressing on the pitch for England, he's not doing badly off the pitch, too. City might have gone into the tournament questioning Grealish's big-stage credentials, or his ability to adapt to their unique tactical demands.

But the more he talks, and the more he plays, the bigger City's transfer conundrum becomes. Maybe getting the best out of Kane and Grealish, is to sign them as a pair.
