Jack Grealish and James Maddison can be future for England and Gareth Southgate

Gareth Southgate has a wonderful pair of 10s - and now it is time to reveal his hand.

James Maddison and Jack Grealish are two of the most exciting midfield talents in the Premier League - and are well overdue their chance to shine for England.

They are both stylish, skilful and love being the centre of attention by having the iconic No10 shirt on their back even if they are very different in their playing style.

Leicester midfielder Maddison is the classic 10 - picking a pass, playing just behind the forward line and being the playmaker.

Aston Villa captain Grealish is a different player but still the focal point for his club, he runs games and always makes things happen.

But Grealish often operates from the left, complementing Villa’s strikers and it was from that position how he helped create the first goal on Tuesday night, his hold-up play and clever lay-off to set up Matt Targett.

That is why Grealish and Maddison can actually play together for England and be the future for Southgate and the national team.

Grealish has yet to win a senior cap, Maddison has been held back by Southgate to some degree - only winning one full cap - but it is impossible to deny them any longer.

I think Southgate’s biggest concern is keeping Maddison’s feet on the ground. He plays with an arrogance and swagger. Brendan Rodgers has been superb at man management with him, not to let him get carried away and Southgate must do the same.

With Grealish, he could actually play in midfield or as part of a front three, floating in from the left. With England struggling for strikers because of injuries to Harry Kane and Marcus Rashford, maybe Raheem Sterling as a false nine with Grealish and Jadon Sancho wide.

But however you use them, Grealish is an absolute must for the next England squad in March - and is now playing his way into the starting line-up for the Euros.

Grealish and Maddison are England’s future - and it looks very bright.
