Jack Grealish aims thinly-veiled dig at Gareth Southgate after latest England snub

Jack Grealish seems to have been left fuming by Gareth Southgate's decision to omit him from the latest England squad yet again.

The Three Lions manager announced his 24-man team to take on Iceland and Denmark in the UEFA Nations League next month, but there was still no place for Grealish, despite his impressive performances as he almost single-handedly saved his Aston Villa side from relegation last season.

Grealish is still yet to win a cap for his country or even be called up to a squad, despite calls from many supporters for his inclusion.

And following Tuesday's news he 'liked' a post from Sky Bet on Twitter which compared Grealish's stats to that of Leeds' Kelvin Phillips, who was included in Southgate's squad.

The tweet read: "Last year Southgate said that Jack Grealish must gain more Premier League experience to earn a call-up.

"19/20 stats: Grealish: 36 PL appearances. 8 goals. 6 assists. 9 MOTMS. Phillips: 0 PL appearances

"Grealish: 0 England call-ups. Phillips: 1 England call-up."

The 'like' was later deleted, but Grealish has made it quite clear how he feels about his latest snub.

Despite Grealish's impressive form on the pitch some have questioned his maturity off it, and the 24-year-old landed himself in hot water when he crashed his car during lockdown after breaching social distancing rules to attend a house party in Birmingham.

And some believe Southgate does not fully trust the player, and hence is choosing to overlook him for his squad.

Meanwhile Southgate now has a decision to make over his inclusion of Harry Maguire, after the Manchester United captain was found guilty of aggravated assault, resisting arrest and repeated attempts of bribery following a late night brawl in Mykonos last week.
