Jack Grealish aims dig at Tottenham on social media amid Man United and Man City links

Jack Grealish has taken to social media to like a tweet that mocked Spurs and Aston Villa's rivals Birmingham City.

Tottenham Hotspur are in with a chance of winning their first silverware since 2008 following last night's 2-0 win over Brentford in the Carabao Cup semi-final.

Jose Mourinho's side earned a hard-fought win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium thanks to goals from Moussa Sissoko and Son Heung-min.

The day after the victory, FC Spartak Moscow's Twitter account bizarrely got involved on the topic after responding to a question about who would win the competition.

When asked on Twitter, 'Who's winning the Carabao Cup?', the Russian club replied, 'What is Carabao Cup? Carling Cup only'.

The sender of the original tweet then posted a photo of Spurs players lifting the trophy 13 years ago following their victory over Chelsea in the final.

The Russian outfit reacted in a rather blunt fashion.

The tweet reads: "Even Birmingham City won this. Do grow up."

And it was soon discovered that Villa captain Grealish liked the tweet.

And the eagle-eyed team running the Spartak Moscow Twitter account noticed it too.

The England international was once sought after by Spurs in 2018 but their £25m bid was rejected.

At the time, Grealish opened up on his "disappointment" over his failed transfer to Tottenham.

While it is unlikely that he still holds any ill-feelings towards the London outfit, it is almost certain that he holds a great deal of animosity for Villa's rivals Birmingham, who won the Carabao Cup in 2011.

Grealish was attacked on the pitch at St Andrews by a Birmingham fan in 2019.

Meanwhile, he has been the subject of a great deal of transfer speculation over the last year or so.

Manchester United and Manchester City have both been linked with the 25-year-old star.

Rio Ferdinand has called on United to make Grealish a priority signing, even if Paul Pogba stays at the club.

"Good players will find a way, they will work it out," Ferdinand told his FIVE YouTube channel.

"Can you imagine that team, if you had Scott McTominay holding, (Paul) Pogba alongside him, maybe a bit higher, Bruno (Fernandes) in the 10, Grealish on the left, (Marcus) Rashford up top and (Mason) Greenwood on the right? Imagine that, I'm licking my lips right now."

He added: "I don't care if Pogba goes or not, Grealish is my man!"
