Jack Grealish agent provides update on future amid Manchester United transfer interest

Jonathan Barnett, the agent of Aston Villa star Jack Grealish, has predicted the player has a 'great future' ahead of him amid Manchester United's transfer interest.

Despite Villa being in danger of relegation back to the Championship when the Premier League resumes later this month, Grealish has stood out with his performances so far this season.

The 24-year-old is the club’s top scorer with nine goals this season and has also provided the most assists for Dean Smith’s side with eight further contributions.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hoping to add a playmaker to his squad this summer and have prioritised the signing of Grealish over Leicester City's James Maddison, who is set to stay at the Foxes for at least another year.

United made their interest known to Villa in February as they sought to get a head start on any potential competitor's for his signature and there's a belief he could be snagged for a cut-price if Villa are relegated.

After such a brilliant season and a big summer transfer looking increasingly likely, Barnett has high hopes for Grealish's future.

“I think Jack has a wonderful future. I think he’s the most fantastic player,” he told Sport Witness.

“He has a great future. It’s all ahead of him. He’s got everything to become a really big star.”

Barnett is one of the most powerful agents in football as part of the Stellar Group, and insists his experience in the industry has helped him acquire some of the biggest names.

“The most important thing, aside from being good at football, is to choose an agent,” Barnett added.

“Every player needs an agent. What they need is a top agent. Somebody that has a track record, proven, and they need someone who they can rely on to work for them.

“I know a lot of people think their family can do it. With all due respect, 90 per cent of those people can’t. t’s a very professional world and you’ve got to know what you’re doing. In my opinion, you need a professional agent.

“Not just to do contracts, but to make sure the player is well looked after, everything that goes around with it is correct and handled properly.”
