Jack Grealish addresses exit talk as Tottenham players face uncertain futures

Here are the latest Tottenham headlines.

Grealish refuses to rule out exit

Jack Grealish has opened up on his Aston Villa future following his side's 1-0 win over Arsenal amid transfer links with Manchester United and Tottenham.

The attacking midfielder has been linked with United and Spurs and his future was naturally a talking point post-match after what could have potentially been his final game at Villa Park.

Villa pulled off an important victory thanks to Trezeguet's goal in the opening half hour, with the hosts holding on to claim three valuable points.

Asked about whether it was his final game at Villa Park afterwards, Grealish told Sky Sports: "I'm not sure to at the moment. I have one aim and that's to keep the club in the Premier League. That's all I'm thinking about at the moment and that's all I can think of."

Three vulnerable players

With the Premier League season ending on Sunday and the transfer window opening the following day, clubs have begun to turn their attention towards their summer business.

But the window is not only about incoming players - and that is particularly the case this summer.

The lockdown has had a huge impact on clubs’ finances, and many of them, including Spurs, will have to sell before they can buy.

Eric Dier had looked like a contender to be shipped out by Spurs until they confirmed on Tuesday that the England international had signed a new deal.

His contract was due to expire in 2021, and there had been whispers that Tottenham might be forced to cash in if Dier did not put pen to paper on fresh terms.

The defender has now put an end to speculation by committing to the club until 2024, but his new deal could threaten the long-term future of several of his team-mates.

How Guardiola helped shape Spurs target

The potential summer arrival of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton will no doubt divide Tottenham fans.

Excelling at St Mary's since his 2016 move from Bayern Munich, Spurs and Everton appear to be in a battle to sign the midfielder.

Whereas some may believe the club should be looking to bring in a player from a bigger club than Southampton, many will be happy if the Denmark international signs on the dotted line following his impressive rise on the south coast.

Hojbjerg has become a key player for Southampton since joining as a 20-year-old and his huge development can be seen from the fact that he took on the captaincy not long after Ralph Hasenhuttl's appointment at the club in December 2018.

A mainstay in the middle of the park in recent seasons, it's easy to see why clubs are looking to sign him this summer as he now enters the final year of his contract.

Tipped to have a huge future after becoming the youngest player to ever play for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga as a 17-year-old, the chance to work under Pep Guardiola at the Allianz Arena would only enhance his game.

As Marti Perarnau wrote in Pep Confidential, his book about the Spaniard's first season in Germany, the manager thought he had found "the Sergio Busquets of Bayern" in Hojbjerg.
