Jack Draper will not play tennis again in 2025 as he continues to recover from an arm injury.
That will see him ruled out of the ATP Finals, a disappointing end to a season in which he won at both Indian Wells and the Madrid Open.
The injury, a bone bruise, affects his left elbow and has already recurred, prompting him to take a more conservative approach to recovery. He has reportedly been advised to take as long a rest as possible.
The British No1 was forced to withdraw from the US Open in August after beating Federico Gomez in the first round.
He released a statement at the time, which read: “I tried my very best to be here and give myself every chance to play but the discomfort in my arm has become too much and I have to do what is right and look after myself.”
Now, in a new update posted to his social media channels, he has revealed that he is set for an extended spell on the sidelines.
He wrote: “Unfortunately, the injury to my arm is something I have to rest and means I’ll be sitting out the rest of 2025.
“It is very difficult for me to accept as I was building some incredible momentum this year and playing some great stuff.”
He insisted, however, that he would not allow the injury to compromise his 2026 season: “I’ve been through this before, and I always come back stronger as I’m so motivated to fulfil my potential as a player.
“Huge thanks to everyone who backs me to do well and supports me on my journey. Can’t wait to get back out there and give it my all. See you soon!”
The injury first appeared after an underwhelming Wimbledon campaign, where he was knocked out by Marin Cilic in the second round. He then pulled out of both the Toronto and Cincinnati Opens in July as he looked to accelerate his recovery ahead of the US Open.
Draper will hope to return to fitness and form in time for the Australian Open, due to begin on January 12, 2026.
Carlos Alcaraz beat Jannik Sinner to win the US Open on Sunday.
