Jack Draper has withdrawn from two upcoming tournaments due to an arm injury as he bids to recover in time for the US Open.

The world number five fell to a disappointing second-round defeat at Wimbledon earlier this month against Marin Cilic, bringing an end to his grass-court season.

Draper now turns his attention to the hard-court swing in North America but he will not compete in Toronto or Cincinnati after picking up an arm issue in the aftermath of his SW19 exit.

The 23-year-old said in a post on social media: “After Wimbledon I picked up an injury in my left arm.

“Nothing serious, but I have to make sure it recovers fully for the rest of the season. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to compete in Toronto and Cincinnati.

“See you in NYC!”

Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic have both also withdrawn from the Canadian Open.

The US Open begins on August 24 and Draper will be desperately hoping to be back to full fitness for his return to Flushing Meadows.

The Briton reached the semi-finals in New York last season, in what remains his only appearance beyond the fourth round at a Grand Slam.

Draper was beaten by eventual winner and world number one Sinner but he has enjoyed more success on the hard courts since, winning the title at Indian Wells earlier this year.
