Jack Diamond on the 'good vibes' running throughout Sunderland

Jack Diamond says the form of the first-team has created 'good vibes' around the whole club.

The Black Cats youngster signed a new three-year deal during the week and became the first player that head coach Lee Johnson has tied down for next season.

The Sunderland boss remained coy on the future on players contracts in an interview with Sky Sports during the week.

Diamond was full of praise for the Black Cats head coach - speaking to SAFC.com after signing his new deal.

The 20-year-old said: "I started off with the first-team and played pre-season, and I think I’ve done well in most of the games that I’ve played.

"As soon as he came in, he threw me right in, gave me some trust and told me what he wanted. I think I’ve done well.”

The Black Cats are currently riding the crest of a wave and are 13 games unbeaten in all competitions.

Their fine form has propelled them into the race for the League 1 title and Diamond believes the 'good vibes' around the squad has lifted everyone at the Academy of Light.

Diamond said: "It just reflects off everyone.

"The 23s are winning, the first-team winning and everyone is happy around the place and it’s real good vibes to be around right now. Everyone is bouncing off each other.”
