Comedian Jack Dee has signed up to present the next series of the BBC’s Apprentice spin-off show You’re Fired.

The 53-year-old replaces Dara Ó Briain who announced in January that he was quitting the show after five years to spend more time on comedy.

“I’m very much looking forward to hosting You’re Fired and hope that the luckless candidates will see me as the friendly face at the end of a difficult time in their lives,” said Dee.

In 2009, Dee took part in Comic Relief Does The Apprentice making it into the final boardroom showdown where he was beaten by lingerie entrepreneur Michelle Mone.

The BBC has also signed up comedian Romesh Ranganathan as a regular on the panel alongside the business experts and celebrities who appear each week to discuss the outgoing Apprentice candidates’ performance.

“It’s great news that we have someone of Jack’s comedy calibre as host of You’re Fired, and I’m really excited that he will be aided and abetted by the hugely talented Romesh,” said Mark Linsey, controller of entertainment commissioning at the BBC.

The next series of Lord Sugar’s The Apprentice is due to air this autumn.
