Jack Clarke's mistake proves costly on full QPR debut as Tottenham duo head out on loan

It really has been a mixed time for Tottenham's loan players so far this season.

Starting the campaign with seven players moving on to play regular football elsewhere, four players returned in January after spending a large chunk of time sat on the sidelines.

Jack Clarke, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Kazaiah Sterling and Anthony Georgiou were the ones to return to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at the start of the month, with Clarke the only one to since seal another move away.

Moves for the other three players could well come to fruition this week as the January transfer deadline is at 11pm on Friday.

But how are the players away on loan currently doing?

Well, you can find out right here as football.london runs you through the latest regarding the Spurs youngsters.

Jack Clarke

The 19-year-old was handed his first start for Queens Park Rangers on Friday night as they exited the FA Cup against Sheffield Wednesday following a 2-1 defeat.

Morgan Fox scored the opening goal for the visitors in the 43rd minute and Clarke was at fault as he failed to track the run from the defender off a throw-in as he fired home.

The York-born ace, who lined up on the right wing in a 4-1-4-1 formation, was far from his best in the cup encounter as very little from him came off, although that's perhaps understandable given the lack of football he has played this season after only three appearances for Leeds United.

Clarke was replaced in the 66th minute by Bright Osayi-Samuel and he will be hoping to get some more minutes in the tank on Tuesday evening when they travel to Blackburn Rovers in the league.

Speaking to football.london about Clarke's performance, QPR boss Mark Warburton said: "He hasn’t been playing games and that’s why Spurs brought him back.

"But he’s a £15million player and he has got to adapt to it. He’s a boy. There is no doubt he will adapt to the level but he is a talented player. There is no doubt about his quality."

Luke Amos

While Clarke got a good runout against the Owls on Friday evening, Amos wasn't involved in the cup tie for Rangers.

The Spurs midfielder was named on the bench by Warburton but he didn't elect to bring him on as he only made two changes.

Amos has played in 21 games in all competitions for QPR this season, scoring two goals.

Jack Roles

Roles was back in the Cambridge starting XI after a recent injury.

Getting 45 minutes off the bench the previous week as the team were humbled 4-0 at home by Stevenage, the youngster played 87 minutes in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Morecambe.

The 20-year-old, who recently signed a new loan deal until the end of the season, has scored five goals in his 23 appearances for the League Two side this term.

George Marsh

The young midfielder is getting a really good run of games at Leyton Orient at present.

Marsh once again started on Saturday and played the full game as the League Two team beat Newport County 2-1 with two goals in the final 10 minutes.

Extending his deal with the club at the start of the month, he has played in 22 games for Orient this term and that number will only continue to grow as he is making a real impression at the club.

Brandon Austin

Tottenham confirmed on Monday morning that the goalkeeper has joined Danish side Viborg FF on loan until the end of the season.

Armando Shashoua

Shashoua has also headed out on loan to get some much-needed match action as he has joined Spanish side Atletico Baleares on a deal until the end of the campaign.
