Jack Clarke has thanked Stoke City after he returned to Tottenham Hotspur with his loan deal cut short due to injury.
The 20-year-old winger left north London in the January window and made the switch to the Potters on a loan deal until the end of the current campaign.
After three Spurs appearances in the first half of the season, Clarke was again sent out temporarily - hoping to make more of an impact and gain more experience than disappointing spells at Leeds United and Queens Park Rangers during 2019/20.
Clarke did make 14 appearances for Stoke as they look sure to settle for a mid-table finish in the Championship. Six of those were starts, with the other eight coming from the bench, and he managed two assists.
Stoke boss Michael O'Neill revealed the Spurs youngster had suffered ligament damage in his ankle and was due to return to the club this week.
Clarke, whose last game was against Derby County on March 20, has now confirmed that himself.
"Due to an injury setback, my time at Stoke has come to an end," the Spurs man posted on Instagram.
"Special thanks to everyone at the club for welcoming me in. All the best for the rest of the season @stokecity."
O'Neill said on Friday about Clarke: "Jack hasn’t gone yet but he’ll go this week. Unfortunately he won’t play again this season, he has ligament damage in his ankle. He had a scan yesterday so that’s disappointing.
“We could have done with him. I think we’ve got 10 players out with injury.
"We could have done with more from him in the final eight games of the season. It’s never nice when a loan is cut short like that.
"He struggled a bit to start in recent weeks because the system made it difficult for him but overall we’ve been pleased with the contribution he’s made."
Clarke's three games for Tottenham this season came against LASK and Ludogorets (both Europa League) and Marine (FA Cup).
