Jack Catterall vs Josh Taylor scorecard revealed after controversial result

The controversial scorecards from Jack Catterall's controversial defeat to Josh Taylor on Saturday night to explain the result to shocked fans.

Taylor won on a split decision in the bout, despite Chorley's Catterall landing more hits in all but one of the rounds in the light-welterweight world title fight.

Scotsman Taylor could now move onto a super-fight against Terence Crawford at welterweight level meanwhile Catterall will be left ruing the decision that costs him an unbeaten record as well as the chance of another title fight.

Judge Howard Foster awarded the fight to Catterall while Victor Loughlin awarded the fight the opposite way, but it was Ian John Lewis' card that really drew the ire of boxing fans, awarding Taylor a massive 114-111 win.

Catterall posted an emotional message to Instagram after the fight, the statement read: "You know what hurts the most, it wasn’t for me I done all of this for my family my team my town and country. My baby girl and misses, our future.

"Today I should of been waking up with all of the belts. 15 months out the ring, they all wrote me off. Fucked me in every way possible for over two years, finally got the fight.

"Sacrificed everything to fight one of the top p4p ranked fighters, gave him a lesson. For what. Boxing shame on you. Judges Dreams stolen."

Taylor meanwhile, as expected says that he felt his victory was deserved, telling Sky Sports after the fight that he expected the win despite 'feeling a little tight'.

He said: "I just felt a little tight in the first half of the fight," he added. "A little bit too tense, trying a little bit too hard. Being the favourite, I had to put a lot of pressure on myself to put in a good performance.

"He did everything I knew he was going to do, it just wasn't the best performance from me.

"I took over in the second half of the fight and I won. I didn't think I needed to get the stoppage. He stole a couple of the middle rounds but overall I won the 12 rounds fine.

"I left it a little bit too late to get the weight down but it's no excuse. The weight wasn't an issue from the performance."
