Jack Byrne won't take long to win over APOEL boss, says Ronan Finn

Jack Byrne won’t take long to win over Mick McCarthy’s successor at APOEL.

That’s according to Shamrock Rovers captain Ronan Finn who feels it’s only a matter of time before his former team-mate is strutting his stuff again.

McCarthy was sacked days after Ireland international Byrne joined the Cypriot club with Savvas Poursaitidis appointed as his successor.

Byrne, who has been working on a tailor-made fitness plan since the FAI Cup final, has had to be patient.

But Finn said: “Jack’s young but he’s very experienced. He’s played in Scotland, England, Ireland, Holland, now he’s in Cyprus.

“He’s got a vast amount of experience and Jack will be fine because he’s such a natural footballer.

“Once the APOEL manager sees Jack’s ability, I’ve no doubt Jack will be a benefit to that team.”

Finn added: “The new manager might not know much about Jack, that he was at Manchester City as a kid, might not know about his achievements with Rovers.

“But I’ve no doubt when he sees what Jack can do with the football at the training ground, his technical ability, Jack will earn his respect."
