Jack Byrne set for APOEL exit as MLS transfer speculation continues

Jack Byrne is set for an APOEL Nicosia exit and has been linked with a move to the MLS as speculation continues.

According to reports, the former Shamrock Rovers ace could leave the Cyprus side before the end of the transfer window next week.

Just under nine months after joining on a free transfer, the club are looking to cut down on their wage expenditure after missing out on European qualification - opening the door to the midfielder's exit.

Byrne has endured a tough time at the club after manager Mick McCarthy was sacked days after he made his debut, he made a handful of appearances before a back injury cut his season short.

The Ireland international has yet to feature for the club this season, and has now been linked with a move to the MLS at Charlotte FC for next year.

The expansion franchise that will join the American league in 2022, with a return to the UK on loan or a short term deal likely in the immediate future.
