Jack Byrne leaves Cypriot side APOEL and is free agent

Jack Byrne has left Cypriot side APOEL, the club has confirmed

Byrne left Shamrock Rovers at the end of last season as he looked for a European venture.

But the former League player of the year never got going at the club in a move that was spoiled by injuries.

The Republic of Ireland international was signed by Mick McCarthy in the move.

And Byrne now will be unable to sign for a new club until the next transfer window.

Byrne and APOEL mutually agreed to terminate his contract with the club just nine months after moving to the side and made just five appearances for the side.
