Jack Black hilariously forgets he starred in The Holiday

Jack Black seemed to momentarily forget his role in festive classic The Holiday as he was asked to name his favourite Christmas film.

The actor, 50, starred in Nancy Meyers’ seasonal romantic comedy in 2006 opposite Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz and Jude Law.

He played Miles, a film score composer who falls for British journalist Iris (played by Winslet) when she swaps homes with Amanda (Diaz) and spends the Christmas break in Los Angeles.

In an Instagram clip shared by film publication Variety, the actor was asked to name his “number one holiday film that you have to watch every year.”

Black replied by praising Christmas comedy Elf, telling Variety’s reporter: “My favourite holiday film, you know what it’s got to be Elf, because once again [it’s] Jon Favreau, I don’t know if I’m saying it right, and Will Ferrell just knocking it out the park.”

The reporter then pointed out that Black had “showed humility” by choosing not to praise his “own movie,” prompting the star to respond with confusion.

“Do I have a Christmas movie?” he replied, before asking: “Which one is mine?”

He then added “Oh, The Holiday! Obviously The Holiday,” before praising its director Meyers as “genius.”

Meyers, who is also known for films including The Parent Trap, It’s Complicated and Something’s Gotta Give, previously revealed that she wrote the part of Miles with Black in mind after she “fell in love” with his performance in School of Rock.

“I saw School of Rock and thought he was the cutest guy and fell in love with him,” she told IndieLondon.

“So Jack came over to my house, I made him some pasta, we sat in my kitchen and I told him the idea.

“When I asked him if he’d ever be in a movie like this, he replied: ‘Nancy, have you seen my work?’ But I assured him that I had and told him that I thought he was fabulous and that he’d be in a movie with Kate Winslet.”
