Jack Black asks to play a real-life 'hobo burglar' in Red Dead Redemption 3

Jack Black has asked Rockstar Games to cast him in the next entry in the hit Red Dead Redemption franchise.

Speaking on his YouTube gaming channel JablinskiGames, the School of Rock star said: “If the creatives over at Rockstar Games are listening right now, I’d like to propose a role that I could play.”

He continued: “There’s an actual historical dude from those times. He was a hobo burglar, named Jack Black. For real. He wrote a book called You Can’t Win, and it’s awesome. I would love to play Jack Black. Think it over.”

The Jack Black in question was born in 1871, and gained some notoriety in the 20th century through his association with beat writer William S Burroughs, who was a fan of his work.

The video also featured a personalised message from Red Dead Redemption 2 actor Roger Clark, who delivered an acclaimed performance as beleaguered gunslinger Arthur Morgan, the game’s player-character.

Black praised Clark’s “incredible performance”, adding: “I hope to collaborate with you on Red Dead Redempsh part three.”

Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the highest selling video games of all time, focusing on the adventures of a gang of US outlaws around the end of the Old West era.

Rockstar have been known to include celebrity voices in their games before – comedian Ricky Gervais recorded whole stand-up routines for Grand Theft Auto IV. However, with an eight year gap between the first Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2, any new sequel is unlikely to arrive until near the end of this decade.
