Jack Adcock's grieving mum says doctor struck-off over son's death 'shouldn't be let near kids'

The grieving mum of six-year-old Jack Adcock has blasted a medical tribunal's decision to let the doctor convicted of her son's death to return to work, insisting that she should "not be allowed near children".

Dr Hadiza Bawa-Garba was found guilty of gross negligence manslaughter over Jack Adcock's death in 2015.

She had been struck off in 2018 but appealed against the decision and the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service has now ruled that she can return to work under close supervision.

Jack's parents Nicky and Victor opposed the decision to allow Dr Bawa-Garba to practice again.

Jack, who had Down's syndrome and a heart condition, tragically died in 2011 after suffering a cardiac arrest caused by sepsis .

Prosecutors at the criminal trial said that his death was caused by "serious neglect" by staff and an "incorrect diagnosis".

Dr Bawa-Garba received a two-year suspended sentence after her defence argued that she had worked a 12-hour shift with no break.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain today, Nicky and husband Victor were clearly furious over the decision.

What's going to happen if she goes into a hospital and causes another death?" Nicky questioned. "I don't think she should have been given another chance."

She insisted that they would "fight and fight" to get justice, adding: "She killed my son."

Nicky also blasted Dr Bawa-Garba's choice to appeal against the decision to strike her off the medical register.

"All she's done is fight, fight, fight," Nicky said. "All she has respect for is herself."

Describing her son, she said: "Everyone who met him adored him... he was such a little character."

Asked by host Richard Madeley whether she was ok, she said: "I don't know."

"Don't let any children near her," she said. "I don't trust her."
