Jaap Stam has backed Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba to be ideal foils for each other in Manchester United's midfield.
United's Premier League campaign resumes this evening against Tottenham Hotspur after a three-month break due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Tantalisingly, it offers the first chance for January signing Fernandes to competitively play alongside Pogba, who has been out of action since Boxing Day due to injury.
Whilst Pogba is expected to be eased back into competitive football due to his long-term absence, which means he will likely start on the bench against Spurs, it will likely not be long before the duo play together in the middle of the park.
Legendary ex- United defender Stam believes it can be a mutually beneficial partnership which allows both players to stamp their own authority on matches.
He told Sky Sports: "For Paul, that's good.
"For Bruno, he's done a fantastic job in how he's leading the team at times as well.
"How he's being creative and having that extra little bit of flair in the midfield as well to give to the team.
"Not a lot of players can do that and he did it immediately.
"For doing that, at United, in the situation that the club was when he joined them as well, it tells you something about his mentality and his personality, and also about the type of player that he is.
"Hopefully he can keep that up as well.
"The thing is, with him as a player as well, he needs to have players around him that eventually lead him and help him out as well to be that creative man."
