Jaafar Jackson Embodies Michael Jackson's Spirit In New Biopic

Michael Jackson

The cast and crew of the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic are dedicated to preserving the singer's legacy through meticulous attention to detail in costume design. Jaafar Jackson, Michael's nephew, is set to make his acting debut in the film, portraying his iconic uncle.

Newly released photos showcase Jaafar in a vintage-inspired costume, paying homage to Michael's signature style. He is seen sporting a red-and-white varsity jacket with a patch, reminiscent of the one Michael famously wore during his 'Bad' era in the late 1980s.

The varsity jacket holds significant historical value as it was a staple in Michael's wardrobe during the 1980s. Notably, he donned a similar leather jacket with a yellow “M” patch for his legendary 'Thriller' music video in 1983.

Since the commencement of filming in January, fans have been treated to glimpses of Jaafar's transformation into the beloved pop icon. Earlier images released in February showcased Jaafar embodying a young Michael, further building anticipation for the film's release on April 18, 2025.

Director Antoine Fuqua and producer Graham King have expressed their excitement over Jaafar's portrayal of Michael. Fuqua praised Jaafar's ability to channel Michael's spirit, emphasizing the profound connection between the two.

The film boasts a talented team of professionals, including skilled hair and makeup artists, costume designers, cinematographers, choreographers, and lighting experts. Fuqua highlighted the invaluable contributions of individuals who had personal experiences working with Michael, adding depth and authenticity to the project.

Jaafar, in his Instagram post, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to bring his uncle's story to life. He conveyed his humility and honor in undertaking such a significant role, promising fans a memorable portrayal of Michael.

Colman Domingo and Nia Long will join Jaafar in the film, portraying Michael's parents, Joe and Katherine Jackson, respectively. Joe Jackson, who managed the Jackson 5 and Michael's sisters Rebbie, La Toya, and Janet, played a pivotal role in shaping the family's musical legacy.
