Ja Morant finally had his breakout game and it was spectacular

If we’re ready to declare the Warriors’ season over after two games, then we’re sure as heck ready to jump on the Ja Morant bandwagon after three games.

The second overall pick out of Murray State showed some early flashes of promise in the Grizzlies’ two losses to start the season, but on Sunday, Ja Morant looked like THE JA MORANT who had NBA execs flocking to watch basketball in Murray, Kentucky.

Going up against Kyrie Irving and the Nets, Morant broke out with 30 points and 9 assists in the 134-133 overtime win. He struggled with turnovers a bit again (6 on Sunday and 16 in three games), but the good far outweighed the rookie moments on Sunday.

Just look at this sequence to end the game. Morant tied the game with a tough finish in traffic, talked trash to Kyrie and proceeded to block Irving’s attempt at a game-winner. Give us all of this.

Yeah, this dude is fun.

And it got better. The Grizzlies went full Villanova and drew up a brilliant out-of-bounds play to set up Jae Crowder for a game-winning three. Morant was the one who set up the shot.

The Grizzlies are BACK.
