Ja’Marr Chase talks about the switch from Joe Burrow to Jake Browning

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase says his relationship with quarterback Jake Browning continues to develop on the fly in the wake of Joe Burrow’s injury.

Chase just played his first game with Browning under center as the full-blown starter.

And while he ended up leading the team with four catches for 81 yards in the loss to Pittsburgh, a chunk of that came via deflected passes he took for big gains.

Chase went on Rich Eisen’s show this week and revealed that the rapport with Browning continues to be a back-and-forth as they get comfortable.

“Letting him know what I feel on certain routes, and if I want to change up my route, he lets me do it,” Chase said. “We’ve had this discussion on the sidelines, I told him if you want to check and change my route, I’m cool with that. So right now, we’re just getting a feel with each other for the first game.”

Chase went on to say that they believe they can win with Browning, in part because of the confidence the backup carries into each huddle.

Expected comments, as is the slow transition as the entire offense continues to adapt to losing one of the game’s best passers.
