In Japanese, "Maru" means circle and "Ya" means shop. When combined, it means to shop in a circle. Since 2013, Maruya has been known as one of the cornerstone events for those who share a passion for all things J-pop and is held annually every three months. At the event, there will be a variety of activities, such as dressing up for anime cosplay and announcements of the latest anime and manga. There will be artwork and exhibitions that have been adapted by artists and the fans. There's a market selling items, including Japanese video games, merchandise, handmade items, and also a stage for performing talents by idols. Watch for the selected winners of the cover dance teams and cosplayers.
Maruya also provides opportunities for growth for people with dreams, both young and old, to have the opportunity to go in the entertainment field, such as meeting a scout who has come to find new talent that can develop into a trainee idol or a future famous cosplayer. It is considered a unique event and is a must-see for those interested in J-pop. At the event, there are strict Covid-19 measures. All attendees must wear a mask and are required to check their temperature in front of the entrance before going inside. The event also provides alcohol gel at various points.
