J-Lo 'so proud of child Emme' for being 'true self' as teen goes by gender neutral pronouns

Jennifer Lopez is said to be 'so proud' of her child Emme, 14, for being their 'true self'.

The singer, 52, introduced the teenager to the stage using gender-neutral pronouns at the LA Dodgers Foundation Blue Diamond Gala earlier this month.

And after Emme showed off their amazing singing voice during a moving duet, sources close to J-Lo say the teenager could follow in their famous mother's footsteps.

"Jen is so proud of Emme and the beautiful young person they've turned out to be," a source told Heat Magazine.

"She's always encouraged Emme and Max to follow whatever path they feel is best, and she's hoping it sets an example to other parents.

"Emme is very sweet, thoughtful kid - and so talented, it's looking like they will go into showbiz at some point, whether it's singing, acting or dancing."

Mirror Online has contacted Jennifer's representatives for comment.

The songstress was lauded by fans as she called the teen "my favourite duet partner" and ahead of their song referred to Emme, who she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony, using the gender-neutral pronoun 'they'.

J-Lo said on stage: "The last time we performed together was in a big stadium like this and I ask them to sing with me all the time, and they won’t. So this is a very special occasion.

"They are very, very busy, booked and pricey. They cost me when they come out. But they’re worth every single penny because they’re my favourite duet partner of all time. So if you will indulge me."

Jennifer and Emme wowed the crowd as they performed Christina Perri's A Thousand Years, with the teen using a rainbow coloured microphone and rocking a hot pink outfit.

Fans soon took to social media after the moving performance.

One wrote: "Awww JLo respecting the pronouns", while a different follower chimed: "The best parents love and support their kids - go JLO and Emme!"

"This was J-Lo sharing that information. It’s beautiful to see her supporting her child," said another.
