Jennifer Lopez’s festive mirror selfie is going viral for all the wrong reasons. While the pop icon simply wanted to wish her followers a Merry Christmas with a photo on social media, she copped a savage roasting in return after fans noticed a major editing fail.
The selfie shows Jenny from the Block wearing a red sparkling dress and her hair tied up with a matching red bow. Cute, right?
“Merry Christmas one and all!” she captioned the post on X (formerly Twitter).
But rather than receiving a flood of responses with the same festive cheer, fans all had the same thing to say about the snap.

Was J-Lo’s Christmas selfie photoshopped?
If you look closely at the orange iPhone in her hand, you can see that the device appears warped. This could be either an optical illusion caused by the mirror or the unfortunate result of photo editing.
Unfortunately for J-Lo, fans unanimously agreed it was the latter.
“Why is your iPhone doing Bend It Like Beckham?” one person commented.
“Damn had no idea iPhone 17 also curves,” another added, with a third writing, “Your phone bending space time okay queen”.
“I can’t unsee that curved iPhone,” someone else said.
“No hate but your iPhone is crooked which means you used some filter that you don’t really need,” a different user replied. “Aging is cool when you don’t care who thinks aging is uncool.”
Some fans also speculated that the photo was a subtle ad for the new iPhone 17 Pro and questioned how much Apple paid her for the promo. If so, it’s probably worked in everyone’s favour that the post has gone viral.
Where do you get the bendy iPhones from? Are they special edition? Or have you just hit the photoshop too hard? pic.twitter.com/zqFj3zYpUw

I love you, girl. But you’ve got to double check for unintended distortion in any photo you edit—before posting. 😅

All publicity is good publicity
I want to point out that perhaps J-Lo’s subtle editing fail was intentional, as it put her name firmly in the headlines ahead of what’s tipped to be a massive year for her career.
The multi-hyphenate is set to kick off her Vegas residency, Up All Night Live, on December 30, which will run through early 2026. Interesting timing, no?

On top of that, she’s been labelled a dark horse in the lead-up to the Academy Awards nominations thanks to her starring role in Kiss of the Spider Woman, so a little extra publicity wouldn’t hurt there either.
Lopez is also gearing up for a massive 2026 with several projects in the works, including the Netflix rom-com Office Romance opposite Brett Goldstein and a series adaptation of Emily Henry’s popular novel Happy Place.
At the end of the day, we all know J-Lo is absolutely stunning — and she shared a recent video on Instagram proving she doesn’t need editing — so what’s wrong with intentionally distorting your photo to get some extra clout?
Plus, the post briefly took the spotlight off her longtime rival, Mariah Carey, during the holiday season, so I’m sure she loved that.
