J.J. Watt is hoping Texans join in bicycle tradition at training camp at Lambeau Field

Wisconsin native J.J. Watt is heading home.

Next week, the Houston Texans defensive end and his team will be heading up to Green Bay to train alongside his home state Packers. Naturally, Watt is excited to take this opportunity to play alongside the team he grew up watching, but this trip offers up another slightly unusual opportunity.

The Packers have a tradition of cycling to training camp, something Watt is seemingly keen to join in with having first seen this as a child.

“Yeah, it’s going to be very cool,” Watt told reporters Wednesday at Methodist Training Center. “It’ll be an exciting time. Obviously having gone up there as a kid and now being able to go back as a player.”

It goes without saying that everybody is keen for the Texans to all partake in this tradition, including the Packers brass, but apparently, this topic has not yet been addressed among the team. Regardless, Watt seems keen to participate if allowed.

“As long as we’re allowed to,” said Watt. “Yes, I would very much enjoy it.”

The 6-5, 288-pound former Wisconsin Badger may, however, have a slightly tough time finding a bicycle big enough. But when asked about this, he does not seem phased one bit.

“I hope so,” said Watt. “I imagine they would.”
