J.J. Watt excited for Texans-Packers preseason game

On Tuesday, the Houston Texans released their preseason schedule, and right out of the gate the AFC South champions face the Green Bay Packers.

At least one Wisconsin native on the roster was excited to see the news. Defensive end J.J. Watt, who was the club’s 2011 first-round pick from Wisconsin, expressed his excitement on Twitter.

Much has been made that the Texans will be playing the Packers for the first time in the preseason, even though they have met four times in the regular season.

For Watt, it will be the first time that he has played in Wisconsin since entering the NFL. In 2012, the Packers traveled to Houston and trounced the Texans 42-24 on Sunday Night Football with Watt collecting six combined tackles, four tackles for loss, and notching 2.0 sacks. In 2016, when the Texans traveled to Lambeau Field, Watt was out for the year with a herniated disc in his back.

If Watt plays in the game, he will be the first of the Watt brothers to have played at Lambeau Field as a professional. In the second week of preseason last year, the Pittsburgh Steelers, T.J. Watt’s team, played at Lambeau. However, the youngest Watt was inactive, leaving the distinction of being the first Watt to play at Lambeau left to J.J.
