Izzy Brown, Jamal Blackman and the Leeds United players you may have forgot under Marcelo Bielsa

Marcelo Bielsa is celebrating his 1,000th day in charge of Leeds United - something he has never achieved as the manager of a club before.

Prior to his move to the Whites, the longest Bielsa managed in charge of a club was no more than two years.

The Argentine has achieved great things at Elland Road in his almost three-year spell and has managed a host of memorable players in the process - and some not so memorable.

Leeds Live takes a look at five players you may have forgotten played for Bielsa at Leeds.

Lewis Baker

Baker spent the 2018/19 season on loan at Leeds from Chelsea and in that time, the now Trabzonspor loanee featured 14 times for the Whites in all competitions.

However, the 25-year-old midfielder failed to score in those games for his loan club before being recalled by his parent side.

The Blues then loaned the former England Under-21 international out to Championship rivals - at the time - Reading, where he seemed to adapt quicker.

His loan spell at Leeds was the fifth time he was sent out on a temporary deal by Chelsea and he has accumulated three more since - and now plays his football in Turkey for Trabzonspor.

Jamal Blackman

Like the aforementioned Baker, Blackman was another man who spent time at Leeds on loan from Chelsea.

The 27-year-old goalkeeper played twice for the Whites in the EFL Cup - but that was it in a forgettable loan spell.

Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Kiko Casilla were both above Blackman in Bielsa's pecking order, meaning the former England Under-19 international couldn't force his way into the Argentine's plans.

Nowadays, the shot-stopper is still contracted to Chelsea, but is on loan at Rotherham United.

Izzy Brown

Brown spent the 2018/19 season on loan at Leeds but barely featured under Bielsa.

The 24-year-old struggled with injuries throughout his brief spell at Elland Road and only made two appearances in all competitions.

Brown made his first-team debut as a late substitute in a 1-0 defeat against Queens Park Rangers in February 2019.

Then when the midfielder left the Whites, he moved to Luton Town on a season-long loan before joining Sheffield Wednesday on a temporary deal this term.

Conor Shaughnessy

Shaughnessy left Leeds on a permanent deal in January to join Rochdale after a four-year spell at the club.

However, during his days at Elland Road, the former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international only featured nine times in the league.

The 24-year-old picked up a serious ankle injury in a goalless draw with Hull City at the start of 2018 - before Bielsa's reign - which ruled him out for around seven months.

The form of Leeds' defence, though, limited Shaughnessy's chances of breaking into the first-team.

Tom Pearce

After spending four years in the Leeds academy following his move from Everton, Pearce went on to make seven league appearances for the Whites in Bielsa's first season in charge.

However, Barry Douglas overtook the full-back in the pecking order following his arrival and Pearce was mainly an unused substitute under the Leeds boss.

In January of the Argentine's first season at the Whites, the left-back was sent on loan to Scunthorpe United.

After returning from the League Two club, he then signed on a permanent basis with Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2019, where he still plays now.
