Izzy Akinade joins Vietnamese club Ho Chi Minh City after sudden Waterford FC departure

Izzy Akinade has joined Vietnamese club Ho Chi Minh City following his sudden departure from Waterford FC earlier this week.

The ex-Bohemians striker was believed to have returned to Nigeria but was on the bench for his new club earlier today.

Akinade, 25, joined Waterford after their promotion to the top flight in 2018.

It comes after Ali Reghba confirmed his departure from Bohemians and he will join Leicester City in the coming days.

The Ireland under-19 international, who signed a one-year deal with Bohs in February, impressed on trial with the Foxes during a January trial.

The midfielder had also attracted interest from a number of Championship clubs, including Leeds United.

Reghba could travel to Armenia for the UEFA under-19 European Championships next month. He was called up for Tom Mohan's training camp in recent days.
