Ivy, Joseph and Holly are among the most popular baby names for the festive season

Naming your baby can be one of the hardest decisions you'll make, but if your child was born over the Christmas period, would you consider giving them a festive-inspired name?

A new poll has found that a number of parents might. In fact, 43 per cent of those surveyed said the season and time of year could influence the type of name they choose.

Biblical names like Joseph and Gabriel made the top five names for boys, while Christmas-inspired names like Ivy and Holly were the top two for girls.

The poll, commissioned by Emma's Diary, a support resource for new parents, also found that Royal names have influenced parent's choices this year, with Charlotte, Meghan, Eugenie, William, Harry and George all making the cut.

Of those surveyed, 64 per cent said they are looking to traditional names, whilst 38 per cent said they will choose something modern and unique.
