Ivy chef smashed bottle over man’s head in row over noise at hostel

Guilty plea: chef Mohamed Amzieb Aghmir was ordered to pay £450 in compensation to the victim (Picture: Brais G. Rouco/ Central News)

A chef at a top London restaurant smashed a bottle over the head of a man who told him to be quiet, Southwark crown court heard.

Mohamed Amzieb Aghmir, 21, who works at The Ivy Kensington Brasserie, attacked Davor Zavadlav at the hostel they lived in after Mr Zavadlav told him to keep the noise down.

Mr Zavadlav needed treatment for a gash on his head after the attack on May 27 last year.

Aghmir, of West Kilburn, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and was given a 12-month community order with 150 hours of community service.

He was also ordered to pay Mr Zavadlav £450 in compensation. His barrister, Simon Sherriff, said The Ivy bosses were aware of the criminal case and were “still prepared to employ him”.
