Ivory Coast vs Cameroon LIVE

Africa Cup of Nations action continued with a heavyweight showdown between Ivory Coast and Cameroon Sunday night’s offering from Group F. Both sides won their opening game of the tournament on Wednesday, meaning this fixture at the Marrakesh Stadium was billed as having a big say as to who would qualify for the round of 16 as group winners.

Les Elephants, the defending AFCON champions after emerging victorious on home soil two years ago to secure their third title overall, took the lead early in the second half thanks to a superb curling striker Manchester United’s Amad Diallo who netted his second goal in as many games at the tournament in Morocco.

However, the lead did not last long. Five minutes to be exact as Junior Tchamadeu’s equalised with a deflected effort - since credited as a Ghislain Konan own goal - to ensure the points were shared as both sides move on to four points ahead of their final group phase fixtures next week. Fae praises Cameroon

18:40 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Ivory Coast head coach Emerse Fae has heaped praise on Cameroon ahead of tonight's showdown.

Speaking in the pre-match press conference, Fae said: "Even if they were a vulnerable team, this isn't just any match. Cameroon will be solid. It's impossible to think they'll be vulnerable in a game like this, despite the absences. Cameroon likes to play with intensity, lots of duels, a lot of physical battles.

"They know how to play direct football, they create tactical problems because of the attacking freedom they give their forwards.

“They have great players like Bryan Mbeumo, Carlos Baleba but it's really their entire team that we have to take seriously."

Amad Diallo goal seals Ivory Coast win in AFCON opener

18:30 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Amad Diallo fired profligate Ivory Coast to an opening victory over Mozambique at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Manchester United winger marked his full debut at a major tournament with his third senior international goal, slotting home early in the second half in what proved to be the decisive moment of Wednesday night’s entertaining AFCON Group F opener at a rainy Stade de Marrakesh.

Holders Ivory Coast dominated the match as expected and created numerous other strong chances to make an early statement of intent, but were let down by poor finishing throughout and could have been made to pay for their wastefulness as Mozambique star Geny Catamo saw a last-gasp effort saved by Yahia Fofana.
