Ivor Novello winner Linda Perry tells songwriters to ‘embrace’ artificial intelligence

Linda Perry Artificial Intelligence

Linda Perry, the 4 Non Blondes singer and songwriter, has urged songwriters to “embrace” artificial intelligence (AI), stating that it makes “people’s life easier in some way.”
Perry received the special international award at the 2026 Ivor Novello Awards on Thursday, 21 May.
She said that running from “the future” means running from solutions, suggesting that embracing AI helps navigate its use and prevent manipulation.
British artist James Blunt presented Perry with her award and echoed her sentiments, highlighting AI's potential benefits in music, such as perfecting backing vocals.
The Ivor Novello Awards, presented by the Ivors Academy, celebrates and recognises songwriting and composing.
