Ivanka Trump tweets about white supremacy after mass shootings

Presidential daughter Ivanka Trump tweeted her support for the eradication of white supremacy Sunday, calling it a "form of terrorism" after two mass shootings in under 14 hours.

"As our nation mourns the senseless loss of life in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, and prays for the victims and their loved ones, we must also raise our voices in rejection of these heinous and cowardly acts of hate, terror and violence," she said on Twitter. "White supremacy, like all other forms of terrorism, is an evil that must be destroyed."

The comments came after a shooting Saturday morning in El Paso that left 20 people dead and 26 wounded, followed by another in Dayton, Ohio, in which nine people were killed and at least 27 wounded.

Both shootings were carried out by young white men wielding assault rifles and firing indiscriminately. The sister of the Ohio gunman was among his victims.

Commenters immediately jumped on the First Daughter with suggestions that she tag her father, President Trump, given his penchant for fueling divisive attitudes, and immigration policies that have sequestered undocumented migrants in squalid conditions at the U.S.-Mexico border.
