Ivanka Trump has been handing out food boxes to families in need alongside Donald Trump’s controversial personal pastor Paula White.
The president’s eldest daughter and senior advisor volunteered at a community centre in Washington, DC on Monday as part of a program to help people hit by the novel coronavirus.
During the day, Ms Trump was joined by controversial evangelical preacher and adviser to the White House Faith and Opportunity Initiative, Paula White.
“Our Farmers to Families Food Box program continues to feed billions of meals to families in need across the Nation - over 3.2B to date!,” Ms Trump posted on Twitter
“Grateful to spend the morning this Holiday Season in VA passing out boxes loaded with fresh & nutritious food sourced from local farms.”
The project, titled Farmers to Families, was funded by the Families First Coronavirus Response Act passed in March. Both women wore masks while they helped put food boxes in resident’s cars.
One thousand boxes were set to be distributed to residents in the capital with filled with produce, milk and meat on Monday, a White House official told The Hill.
The scheme seeks to connect regional distributors with local food banks, community organisations and other nonprofits to help deliver surplus produce to those in need. Ms Trump has been a key advocate for the program.
Ms White, who was pictured with Ms Trump, has been associated with the president since 2002, went viral in November for a marathon prayer service calling on the almighty for divine intervention in the presidential race.
The pastor insisted that “demonic confederacies” were working against Mr Trump and declared that “angels from Africa, from South America” are coming to his aid.
Ms White has previously gained attention for her controversial views such as calling on Jesus Christ to "command all satanic pregnancies to miscarry" and previously saying that Mr Trump’s political enemies “operate in sorcery and witchcraft”.
She served on his Evangelical Advisory Board during the 2016 campaign and has continued to advise him on matters of faith in the White House.
“Lord, let this week be filled with favor, Your goodness, supernatural supply, unexpected blessings and multiple testimonies! Get ready for overflow in the name of Jesus!,” Ms White posted on Twitter on Monday.
