Ivanka Trump congratulates Boris Johnson on his election as PM of a single London borough

Twitter has been subject to yet another Trump blooper as Ivanka Trump incorrectly congratulated the new Prime Minister of the UK - Boris Johnson.

As advisor to the president of the United States, the first daughter sent her regards to Boris after his landslide victory, but it seems that he is instead the PM of a single London borough.

She tweeted: "Congratulations Boris Johnson on becoming the next Prime Minister of the United Kingston."

Kingston-upon-Thames is a Royal Borough in south west London, with Lib Dem Sir Ed Davey and Tory Zac Goldsmith as its MPs.

The blooper was only live for around 10 minutes before Ms Trump corrected the tweet.

But Twitter users weren't fooled by the correction with a number posting screenshots captioned "Never forget", "Too late" and one user even suggested the family hire a spellchecker.

President Trump also took to his social media to congratulate Boris, where he said to his 62.2m followers that he believes the new Prime Minister "will be great!"

Boris Johnson was announced winner of the leadership contest on Tuesday, July 23 at around midday after achieving 92,153 votes to Jeremy Hunt's 46,656 votes from Tory members.

Mr Johnson will have to wait until tomorrow to enter Downing Street, however, with  Theresa May  set to remain Prime Minister until after she takes her final Prime Minister's Questions tomorrow lunchtime.

She is then expected to travel to Buckingham Palace to recommend to the Queen that Mr Johnson take over as her successor.
