Ivanka Trump appears to miss the point of a New York Times headline about Donald Trump

For a shrewd businesswoman, Ivanka Trump appears to have wholly missed the point of a sober New York Times headline about her father’s presidency.

“Democrats, students and foreign allies face the reality of a Trump presidency,” the paper declared on Friday morning above a picture of Donald Trump, the President-elect who will be remembered for sparring with the publication, and others, throughout his campaign.

The paper was one of a number to share stark headlines about what Mr Trump could deliver if he keeps the promises he made throughout the campaign and ask questions laden with concern about the future. But his daughter was unconcerned by the gravity underscoring the phrase “face the reality”.

The New York Times was unambiguous in their opinion on Mr Trump’s election victory, dismissing him as incompetent and unqualified for the role he has won in this surreal election. Little, the paper said, is known about the man with no prior political experience who now has the nuclear codes and the power to revoke the health care insurance currently provided to 22 million people in the US now anxiously waiting to see if he will do so.

“Here is what we do know: We know Mr. Trump is the most unprepared president-elect in modern history. We know that by words and actions, he has shown himself to be temperamentally unfit to lead a diverse nation of 320 million people. We know he has threatened to prosecute and jail his political opponents, and he has said he would curtail the freedom of the press."
