Ivan Toney scouted by Celtic as Peterborough chief sends transfer warning over striker's future

Celtic have run the rule over Peterborough's Ivan Toney as a host of club circle around the in-demand striker.

Record Sport understands the 23-year-old has been watched by Hoops representatives on two occasions - including in Tuesday's 4-0 win over Wycombe.

Championship title chasers Brentford are also keen with Bristol City firm admirers of the former Newcastle United forward.

Toney is attracting interest with his all-action displays for the League One side this season.

The 5ft 10in attacker has netted 19 goals in 33 appearances with Peterborough pushing for promotion.

Their director of football Barry Fry is fully aware of the significant interest in their key man but he is adamant Toney isn't going anywhere.

He said: "Bristol City have shown interest in Ivan and we do have a good relationship with them, but there is zero chance of Ivan going anywhere in January,"

"I have had eight Championship clubs ask about Ivan as well as a couple from the Premier League, but my answer is always the same. There is not enough money in this transfer window to even tempt us into talking about selling Ivan Toney."

Celtic have already signed striker Patryk Klimala in a £3.5m deal but Tyrese Campbell won't be heading to the Premiership champions after Record Sport exclusively revealed the Stoke forward called the Hoops to tell them he would be remaining in England.
