Ivan Toney is the latest name being linked with an Arsenal transfer.
According to Express Sport understands the Gunners among the Brentford striker's admirers are will continue tracking his performances for the Championship outfit.
With 16 goals in just 22 league appearances to his name so far this season, Toney has certainly repaid a large chunk of the £5m transfer fee - that could rise to £10m - paid to Peterborough in last summer's transfer window.
However, the aforementioned report does state that Arsenal aren't in the market for a new centre-forward this month, so this could be one to keep an eye on come the end of the season.
Furthermore, whilst there's no plans to follow up their interest, the club's scouts will continue to monitor the progress of the 24-year-old.
If Arsenal were to seal a deal for Toney, the striker would be fulfilling his ambition.
"I want to play at the highest possible level - the Premier League," he told Sky Sports ahead of joining Brentford. "I feel like my ability will get me there, whether it's now, next season or whenever."
Those comments did see Toney come in for some criticism, but he insisted that he was just aiming for the highest level in English football.
"People are going to have their opinions and just because it's their opinion to have, it doesn't mean it's factual," Toney added.
"I see myself as a Premier League player. If I see myself as a Championship player, that's not good enough. You have to aim higher and if you come just short then it's not too bad.
"You must have high ambitions and high ambitions scare small-minded people.
"I'm excited to be in the Championship and I'm sure I can play a big part in taking Brentford to the Premier League."
Toney's comments would suggest he's already delivered his verdict on a possible Arsenal transfer if Brentford aren't successful in earning promotion to the Premier League next season.
In addition, Toney could be a long-term replacement for Alexandre Lacazette at the Emirates Stadium.
The 29-year-old's contract expires in the summer of 2022, so a decision regarding his future must be made fairly soon otherwise the Gunners risk losing the Frenchman for free.
