Ivan Toney arrest: England forward accused of assaulting selfie-hunter at Soho nightclub

England forward Ivan Toney has reportedly been arrested following an alleged assault involving a fan at a nightclub in central London.

The Sun published photographs of Toney, 29, being escorted out of 100 Wardour Street in handcuffs on Saturday.

It is alleged the footballer had reacted to a fan grabbing him and attempting to take a selfie with him, according to witnesses.

They told the newspaper: “He (Toney) walked past a table of a group of lads.

“One of them recognised him and said, ‘Oh, it’s Ivan Toney’ and tried to put his hands around his neck to get a photo with him.”

“And then Toney has said, ‘Get off me, get off me.”

Witnesses alleged that Toney might have felt the fan was trying to attack him or take his jewellery from him, noting the footballer was wearing jewellery and a “real nice watch”.

A spokesperson for Met Police said: “Police were called to Wardour Street, W1 at 00:47hrs on Saturday, 6 December following reports of an assault.

“The victim was taken to hospital and his injuries are not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening.

“A 29-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of two counts of assault and one count of affray. He has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.”

Toney played for Brentford between 2020 and 2040, netting 128 goals for the west London club, before moving to Saudi club Al-Ahli for £40million.

He played for England at the Euro 2024 championships and has seven caps and one international goal to his name.
