Ivan Rakitic sends message about his future amid Manchester United transfer links

Ivan Rakitic insists he has complete control over his future amid rumours linking him with a move to Manchester United at the end of the season.

The Croatian midfielder has experienced a reduced role at Barcelona this season with only 15 starts for the club in all competitions prior to the suspension of football last month.

Rakitic is still viewed as one of the best midfielders in Spain and as such has been linked with United, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan as of late.

MEN Sport understand Rakitic is not a priority target ahead of the next transfer window and the veteran does not fulfil the desired criteria of young homegrown talent which Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would like to attract.

However, that hasn't stopped the rumours from circulating and United proved there can be exceptions to their policy when they made the decision to loan Odion Ighalo earlier in the year.

Rakitic would not be short of suitors were he to leave Barcelona and now he has addressed his future by insisting he will not be treated like a sack of potatoes.

"I am not a sack of potatoes," he told Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo. "I will decide my future.

"I want to be where I am valued. If it is here, [I would be] delighted, and if not, it will be where I decide."
